![]() ![]() ![]() Note that, with web installer you’ll be able to choose which programs you want to download, instead of downloading the whole pack. Windows Movie Maker is a part of the Windows Live Essentials software package, but has been discontinued as of January 2017 and is no longer available for download from the Microsoft website. This website shows you how to complete your Windows Movie Maker download from an archived source. So if you’re running any of those two OSes, grab and try Windows Essentials 2012, either through web installer or the good old offline installer. As of 2024, however, the download source has changed. The pack will work on both Windows 8 as well as Windows 7. Windows Movie Maker (known as Windows Live Movie Maker for the 20 releases) is a discontinued video editing software program by Microsoft. It was first included in Windows Me on September 14, 2000, and in Windows XP on October 25, 2001. Microsoft developed the idea of integrating all the applications into one single roof under the name, Windows Live Essentials. Movie Maker is now hardware-accelerated and includes video stabilization features, just like YouTube. The windows live essentials 2012 suite contained a package of applications that satisfied the need of every user of a computer. The updated pack includes the new SkyDrive which was released for Windows 8, an advanced Movie Maker and Photo Gallery app. With Windows 8 release not so far away, Microsoft released the preview version of the updated Windows Live Essentials, which is now called ‘Windows Essentials 2012’ i.e. You can now tag people in photos in bulk. ![]() Both programs are now designed for Windows 8 in mind and feature the Microsoft ribbon interface. Photo Gallery Photo Gallery and Movie Maker are the highlights of Windows Essentials as they received the biggest overhaul. As you know, Windows Live Essentials is a pack of Windows apps which includes Mail, Photo Gallery, SkyDrive, Live Writer and many more. See our full review of Windows Live Messenger 2012 here. ![]()
